Literary Awards

While major awards are often included in our members' newsletter, the APA does not have a comprehensive awards' list. If you’re an author and interested in upcoming competitions, consider joining the Writers Centre in your state.  For a modest membership fee, they send regular newsletters with full awards' listings. The definitive reference text for local competitions is the Australian Literary Awards & Fellowships. Published by Thorpe Bowker, it includes local prizes, entry guidelines, closing dates and contact details.

The Australian Writer's Marketplace 2004 also lists literary awards and competitions, in addition to detailing the local and New Zealand market for magazines, newspapers, journals, publishers and scripts. The Writer's Marketplace is published by the Queensland Writers Centre and is available from their online bookshop. The 2005 edition is due for release in October 2004.
