Getting indie books into public libraries

An online panel discussion and networking event with Australian library suppliers, aimed at helping indie publishers get their titles into public libraries.

Panel Q&A discussion – 10:00-11:00 AEDT

The first hour of the event is open to anyone interested in learning more about how books reach libraries, and will feature a Q&A with senior representatives from key Australian library suppliers James Bennett, Peter Pal and ALS Library Services. The speakers are:

  • Simon Woodley, General Manager, ALS Library Services
  • Sarah Phillpot, General Manager, James Bennett
  • Brydie Genrich, Account Manager, Peter Pal

If you have any questions for the Q&A you may send them through in advance during registration or ask them on the day.

Networking opportunities – 11:05-14:00 AEDT

The remainder of the time will be devoted to one-on-one networking sessions between the suppliers and attendees, each lasting up to 10 minutes in a private Zoom room.

Networking is open to anyone from indie publishers keen to make closer connections with library suppliers, and will be particularly suited to those responsible for library sales. This will provide the opportunity to ask further questions about your individual lists and sales processes – please note that these one-on-one sessions are not intended for pitching, and will be allocated on a first-come basis.

This event is an initiative of the APA’s Independent Publishers Committee. If you represent a larger publisher with an existing relationship to these library suppliers, we invite you to attend the Q&A session but ask that you keep the one-on-one sessions available for publishers looking to develop a new relationship with suppliers.
