#AustraliaReadsIndies Roadshow 2021

07/09/2021

Over 500 viewers tuned in to the 2021 Indies Roadshow, where Australia's best independent publishers shared their top upcoming titles.

Organised by the APA’s Independent Publishers Committee (IPC), the roadshow is a free live screening that showcases more than 60 new books from Australia's best independent publishers including Black Inc, Giramondo, Magabala, NewSouth, Scribe and Text – to name just a few.

'With ongoing lockdowns in place across Australia there’s obviously much uncertainty around retail as we lead into Christmas,' says Keiran Rogers, Sales and Marketing Manager at Affirm Press and member of the IPC. 'Digital discovery of new books will be more important than ever this year, and consequently opportunities like the Indies Roadshow 2021 should be cherished.'

The roadshow was held on Wednesday 29 September. Expanding on last year’s event, there was a separate kids and young adult presentation, followed by the presentation of the adult titles.

The last 18 months have changed how we live and work, with huge effect on how the book industry operates. The Indies Roadshow was a welcome chance to get together and be excited about some of the extraordinary Australian talent coming to our shelves in the next 6 months.
