Announcing the VOLUME symposium

20/06/2023
Australia Reads has just announced the details of VOLUME – a day-long industry symposium dedicated to creating a stronger reading culture in Australia.

Despite its ability to enhance health, knowledge, and wellbeing, support for embedding reading in our daily lives is often overlooked. With national literacy and reading rates declining, it's time for urgent action.

By exploring effective ways to encourage reading alongside insights into advocacy and marketing from other industries, VOLUME will provide a platform to untangle the issues affecting reading engagement.

We’ll look at how to tell a strong, unified message about the benefits of reading, and consider how we might work with partners and governments to create a nation of readers.

Save the date for this free, online program on Thursday 21 September 2023 and help turn up the VOLUME on the value of reading.

Audience

VOLUME is primarily aimed at leaders in the books and reading sector, their teams and colleagues. Anyone who engages with readers, and especially would-be readers, will benefit from attending. This includes publishing companies, libraries, bookstores, festivals, writers centres, literary organisations, authors/illustrators and those running existing reading initiatives across the country.

Sign up here to be kept up to date, and stay tuned for the full program announcement in July 2023.

This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body.
