As the national representative body for publishers, the APA lead the conversation with government and other groups about the value of Australian publishing to our national culture, education, economy, and way of life.

Advocacy

Our team works to inform government departments and industry bodies of the key issues facing publishers, and how we can effectively work together. Learn more about our advocacy work.

We also work internationally, supporting and advocating for the rights of Australian publishers on key international matters such as copyright.

Industry development and capability building

We support the growth of the publishing industry by developing the supply chain and industry infrastructure, undertaking research, sharing best practice, and offering professional development.

The APA works closely with a range of key stakeholders and industry partners to advance the sector and provide support for our members.

Promotion

The APA promotes books and educational resources, along with the value of reading – both at home and abroad.

As a partner organisation for the Australia Reads campaign, we champion the benefits of reading to all Australians, while our Books From Australia platform and attendance at global book fairs helps support our members in promoting their books and authors internationally.
