Australia Reads is a collaborative book industry initiative which champions the benefits of reading to all Australians. We believe reading is the key to a smarter, healthier, happier nation,

Starting out as the Australian Reading Hour in 2012, Australia Reads has grown into a year-long campaign underpinned by the message: More Books, More Often.

Our work is driven by a shared passion for reading and belief in the many benefits of reading for pleasure. We are committed to promoting the work of our talented Australian book creators and connecting businesses, communities, organisations and schools with transformative reading opportunities.

The APA is one of four partner organisations behind Australia Reads, a not-for-profit collaboration of the Australian Library and Information Association,  the Australian Society of Authors and the BookPeople. We are driven by our common passion for championing reading, promoting the many mental health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits of reading books, and encouraging the next generation of readers.
