BookUp: Australian Book Industry Conference 2024

Join your colleagues in trade and educational publishing as the industry comes together for the APA’s BookUp Conference, at State Library Victoria in Melbourne on Wednesday 7 August 2024.

This year's program explores opportunities for innovation and adaptation, alongside discussions about staff development and support.

We’ll take a look at the big industry themes of the day, with practical takeaways on the applications (and risks!) ofAI in publishing, hiring and supporting staff, and the strategic use of industry data. There will be insights into publishing complex content sensitively, and how publishers can work better with schools. Back by popular demand, we’ll also take a look at the latest research into reading behaviour and how we can overcome barriers to reading.

At BookUp you can expect a day full of experts from publishing and beyond, discussing thought-provoking ideas and delivering valuable professional development for publishing staff at all levels.

Don't just take our word for it though:
‘BookUp was such a huge success. The program was topical and relevant with great speakers, industry experts, panel discussions and presentations. An excellent learning and development opportunity for Hachette staff.’

Louise Stark – CEO, Hachette Australia
'I am a big fan of BookUp. It is hugely important for the publishing sector's development to have this opportunity to come together and discuss the big issues facing our industry. One of the keys to the success of BookUp is that staff from all parts of publishing – sales, marketing, publicity, editorial etc – attend.’
